Bringing parents together to learn and build community is important to our school. Explore “Why Waldorf Works” during our parent education events throughout the school year. We offer new, currently enrolled and non-enrolled parents and caregivers the opportunity to meet our leaders and experience our school and the Waldorf curriculum. THE WALDORF WAY PODCAST

The Waldorf Way Podcast in Ithaca, NY, answers questions to Waldorf education. In every episode, Laura Hayes, IWS School Director, has a conversation with someone from the school community, or wider Waldorf world. New episodes are released on Spotify every Friday morning.

This school year, Ithaca Waldorf School is offering a special in-person Child Development Training Series that is open to the public. This program is part of the Waldorf Teacher Training with the Great Lakes Institute.

No prior knowledge of Anthroposophy or Waldorf education is required to join the lectures or workshops in this this training series.

Child Development Training Series

Unit 1 - Overview of Birth to 21 With Laura Hayes
This unit covers an overview of the human development from birth to 21. It offers an introduction to Rudolf Steiner’s picture of the four-fold human being and the “pedagogical law. Participants will consider the three developmental stages in relation to the idea that we are spiritual beings on a physical journey.

Unit 2 - Birth to 7 Years Old With Carol St. John
This unit covers human development from birth to 7, the early childhood years. Topics will include the importance of rhythmic habits, imitation of worthy adults, immersion in the seasons of the year and the natural world, unstructured, imaginative play, and preparing for grade school.
