Tuition Assistance Available
The Ithaca Waldorf School strives to provide the highest quality teachers, programming, and facilities while remaining affordable for families. However, we do recognize that some families who seek Waldorf education need help. We follow a model used by many Waldorf schools called Tuition Assistance, in which a percentage of total tuition income is given as aid to qualifying families.
The minimum age of an applicant for Tuition Assistance is five (with the fifth birthday on or before Dec. 1 of the current school year). Families of younger children may qualify for pre-school assistance through the Tompkins County Department of Social Services.
After a student has applied and been accepted to the school, the family can apply for Tuition Assistance. The application deadline for returning families is March 10th, 2012. The Tuition Assistance Committee will review applications after this deadline only if there is a sudden change in the family’s finances. For families new to the school, there is no deadline. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Awards are based on financial need. The application process requires a Parents’ Financial Statement to be completed online at sss.nais.org. There is a $35 fee to process the application. In addition, a paper or electronic copy of the completed Federal Tax Return for 2011 is required.
